Street Photography is not a genre I'm versed in, but this looks like an interesting documentary.

Tuesday night I attended the Wine and Canvas session at Claddagh Legacy Village in Beachwood. The subject for the night was "Paris at Night" originally painted by our instructor, Cassie. I was really excited about this painting, because it has an architecture and perspective component. However, the painting was much more difficult than any of the others I have done. The combination of fine details and the location of my seat, away from the instructor increased the difficulty.
Here's Cassie's original that we were working from.

The following are a few photos of the progression.
and finally, my version.

Although my personal project painting stalled, I've been painting in a events called Wine and Canvas. This company hosts events at local restaurants/bars where they setup all the supplies and participants follow an instructor to complete a painting.
I've gone to four events so far. Photos of my paintings can be found here. Tomorrow night I'll be attending another session with a friend and we are painting "Paris at Night"

The painting I started last summer stalled a while back. I forgot to take some progress along the way, but here's a shot of the canvas as it looks at the moment.
This building is about 1/4 mile from my house. It's an old building, not well maintained. I have no idea what it's used for, or even if it's still used. In the winter, the sun rises behind the building, and this particular morning I thought the sky was set for a nice sunrise. The building has a lot of character and makes you wonder about it's past.

It was a cold day on Lake Erie. The weather conditions and lighting were not ideal, but I wanted to try out the telephoto lens that came with new camera.

The San Francisco Painting. Sketching the outline that will be filled in with paint.
An update on the San Francisco Painting. Using the reference photos, I did a quick sketch, to get a feel for the combination.
After about a two year hiatus from painting, I'm finally starting a new canvas. It feels good to work with paint again. I found the hardest part was getting started. The first evening I brought the canvases and supplies out from storage - can't do anything without those.
I was definitely inspired by my recent trip to San Francisco where I took hundreds of photographs. Next I had to narrow my inspiration and find a photo or two that I could use as a reference. I wanted something interesting, but not too detailed. I decided on merging two photos together. I really like the picture of the boat, with Alcatraz in the background. Alcatraz is really small in this picture. I have another picture of Alcatraz with much more detail. Here are the two reference pictures.
Each step of this project I'll post an update.
